How do you put an image on a sheet of stainless steel? Can it be done with a printer?
I saw an art gallery show some images this way and I'd like to do my own pictures like this.
these images are created with liquid emulsion, sometimes sold under the name " liquid light". This photographic emulsion can be poured onto any variety of surface, and is exposed by a photographic enlarger.
There are of course various other methods of printing on metal. In the mid to late 19th century there was a popular form of photography known as ferrotypes or tintypes in which a photo sensitive plate of metal was placed into a camera and exposed like a piece of film. However, instead of producing a negative where the tones are reversed, it created a positive print.
Below is a link showing you various alternative photographic methods of printing. This is something that you just aren't going to be able to do with a printer unfortunately.
